Started up the C this morning and was greeted with the Check Engine light. Got out my ODB II and found 10 codes:
    P2401
    P0430
    P0430
    P2402
    P2419
    P0430
    P0430
    P2401
    P2402
    P2419

Based on what I could find online, it seems that it could be the charcoal canister...again. I say again because it was replaced under warranty less than 9000 miles ago. Lucky for me, I just got my new inspection sticker last Tuesday. And interestingly enough, I was planning on changing my oil and filter today or tomorrow, not that that has anything to do with anything.

Anyway, I'm about to go get gas and I'll be curious to see if I have the same symptoms as last time where I had to fill the tank at a trickle.

I guess my main question is whether I'm likely to do any damage driving this thing for a couple of days until I can get to the dealer to take a look at it.

    ** Update**
Had to fill gas at a trickle again, so it appears to be the same issue. Time to call the dealer.

i don't think there's any problem driving it, but it sure seems like you have an issue in your vapor recovery system that may go beyond the canister. how many miles on her, and when did you first start having trouble the first time?

    Thanks for the reply.

I bought it with 34k miles on it. Had the canister replaced under extended warranty at 51k and I just turned over 60k two days ago.

what were the canister symptoms? codes/failed inspection, or something physical?

#7 post was interesting. i wonder if it's the canister again, but something else in the system is causing it to fail.
good thing you have the extended warranty, and a great dealer!

Are you careful to screw in the gas cap really tightly each time you fill the car? You should tighten it until you feel and hear a "click" sound. If the cap isn't properly sealed it can cause issues for the fuel pressurization system which I can easily imagine being related to the symptoms you're seeing.

The very few times I use a full service gas station I make a habit of getting out of the car and checking to make sure the attendant has properly tightened the cap. I usually find that he hasn't.

Yeah, ever since I learned about the gas cap being a possible issue for a CEL many years ago, I've always made certain of that. I can't even remember the last time I didn't pump my own gas.

    And here's your update.

I left the car at the Toyota dealer yesterday. They gave me a 2016 Ford Fusion as a loaner. I got the call today that the problem is in fact the charcoal canister again, so they replaced it again under my Extended Warranty. I picked it up this afternoon and everything's fine now. Here's hoping the fix lasts longer than 9k miles this time. Note on the repair order indicates "water intrusion in canister assembly".

Sure am glad I bought that Platinum Extended Warranty.

Yeah, I really hope rain isn't enough to cause issues.

as long as your warranty lasts, i wouldn't sweat it. but if it needs replacing again, i would request further investigation.
