Intermittently, about every 10 to 30 minutes the charging stops for about 10 seconds. I don't think that's a problem. I'm wondering what the reason would be.

How do I know this... I have a HAN (Home Area Network) device that reads the net electricity energy in/out every 10 seconds. When everything is quiet energy-wise you can easily see when you turn on/off a 40 watt light. The report is to the nearest watt, the accuracy is whatever the meter provides. The PiP draws about 1430 watts from my 120 volt line.

Building in automatic self-checks into software is a common practice. It wouldn't surprise me at all for the charger to include that, especially considering the task it is fulfilling.

    Kudos for being so observant.

I don't remember who, but someone here had printed charts showing charging cycles, that showed what you are talking about, the ups and downs, and short no charges. I am sure they will pipe in at some point. So nothing to worry about at all, I'm sure.

Maybe you can search and find it here. I know trying to find by search is kind of hard. good luck.

For the battery itself, there are some conditioning events we know little about. Discovering them and uncovering details is what contributes to our strong support for Toyota. It confirms how well they did their homework on longevity.

Sadly though, when a update is derived, it is quickly given the label of "recall" instead of being regarded as proactive effort.

Yup, me, I had charts from my data logger showing that the charger drops to zero amps eight times during my two hour and 34 minute charge.

In order to check the SOC, the charging has to be stopped. Interesting that the charging current drops near the end.

That is how the charging cycle is supposed to work for lithium-ion batteries. Cell phone chargers behave the same way.
