check engine, (!) and VSC light

    I am getting the same p2601 code after changing the pump.

    You probably have TWO separate problems.
    1) DTC P2601 points to the CHRS (Coolant Heat Recovery Storage) pump. You say you replaced the pump and refilled the reservoir.
    1a) Which pump did you replace? There are four pumps that move coolant in the Gen2 Prius: engine, inverter, CHRS, and heater.
    1b) Did you properly purge all the air out of the engine cooling loop, assuming you replaced the CHRS pump?
    1c) Did you check the radiator, after it has cooled for hours, to make sure it is full?​

    2) You MOST likely have a dying HV (High Voltage) battery. You reported common symptoms associated w/ a failing HV battery:
    2a) you can hear the HV fan from the back seat
    2b) engine runs constantly
    2c) dash is lit up light a Christmas tree w/ all kinds of warning lights​

    As has been said many times over, get the codes read. MORE IMPORTANTLY, get the codes read w/ a Prius capable code reader. Universal OBD2 readers, auto parts store readers, and many other readers, will NOT read ALL Prius codes. The dealer or an independent shop specializing w/ Toyota will be your best bet.

    If you purchase miniVCI w/ Techstream from Amazon ($25+), you will have dealer capable code reading ability. Techstream is the official diagnostic and maintenance software written for Toyota/Lexus, and used at all Toytoa/Lexus dealerships. Installation is easiest on a Windows 32bit OS laptop (XP, Vista, 7). If you don't have one, ask friends/family if they know someone in IT. This person will likely have such an obsolete laptop laying around, and can likely give it to you for free. Mac install possible, just search. B/C the software is hacked, this laptop top should only be used for vehicle diagnosis; NO email, banking, bill payments.

    hi did you ever get this figured out. I have an 05 Prius with 160k miles. Thousands put in it and the exact same issue. Last time is went to dealership was 6 months ago and they put car in pressure chamber and patched all water leaks and now I turn car on and yellow check engine, VSC and (!) is on. Fan blowing hard in back when on and hybrid battery bars go full green and up and down. 12v battery brand new and Hybrid battery somewhat new. Hopefully I can get some help it’s our only vehicle with 4 kids and thousands sunk in.

    The first thing to do is have the codes read, which are more than likely going to be hybrid system codes.

    Was the "somewhat new" hybrid vehicle battery actually some kind of "rebuilt" battery?

    Mine did the same thing, Codes came up were: P0A93, C1241, C1256, C2121, C2122, C2124, C2177, B1421. I replaced the Inverter Coolant Pump and reset the codes by disconnecting the battery. Going to drive it now to see if it changes anything. Guys, do you feel I did the right thing and is there anything else to check?

    This does not cause any trouble code lights to come on and is not a trouble code per see. It just means that at the time the car was scanned the passenger-side solar sensor does not detect bright sunlight. If that is the case, then there is nothing further to do in relation to this code. If you were in bright sunlight, you might want to investigate further.
    These codes mean:

    No Signal from Transmitter ID1, ID2, and ID4 (respectively) in Main Mode

    The tire pressure warning valve and transmitter constantly sends radio waves to the tire pressure warning ECU.
    Under the following conditions, the tire pressure warning antenna and receiver is unable to receive the signals from the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter, and a DTC is output.
    • Areas, facilities, or devices that use similar radio frequencies are located in the vicinity of the vehicle.
    • Devices using similar radio frequencies are used in the vehicle.
    DTCs C2121 (Blink code 21) to C2124 (Blink code 24) can only be deleted by the tester.


    DTC Detection Condition

    These DTCs are detected when no signals are received for 51 minutes or more after a vehicle speed of 5 mph (8 km/h) or more is detected and no signals are received for 12 minutes or more

    Trouble Areas
    • Tire pressure warning valve and transmitter
    • Tire pressure warning antenna and receiver
    • Tire pressure warning ECU
    • Wire harness
    This code means:

    Abnormal Change in Output Signal of Rear Speed Sensor RH (Test Mode DTC)

    The speed sensor detects wheel speed and sends the appropriate signals to the ECU. These signals are used to control the ABS control system. The front and rear rotors have 48 serrations respectively.

    When the rotors rotate, the magnetic field emitted by the permanent magnet in the speed sensor generates an AC voltage. Since the frequency of this AC voltage changes in direct proportion to the speed of the rotor, the frequency is used by the ECU to detect the speed of each wheel. When foreign matter adheres to the speed sensor tip or sensor rotor, or the rotor teeth are chipped, these DTCs are output. An abnormal waveform input from the sensor determines these conditions.

    These DTCs may be detected when a malfunction occurs in the connector terminals or wire harness of the speed sensor circuit.

    DTCs C1275 (Blink code 75), C1276 (Blink code 76), C1277 (Blink code 77), and C1278 (Blink code 78) can be deleted when the speed sensor sends a vehicle speed signal or the test mode ends. DTCs C1275 (Blink code 75), C1276 (Blink code 76), C1277 (Blink code 77), and C1278 (Blink code 78) are output only in the test mode.
    DESCRIPTION

    The accumulator pressure sensor is built into the actuator and detects the accumulator pressure. The skid control ECU turns on the Brake Control warning light and sounds the skid control buzzer if it senses a decrease in the accumulator pressure.

    This one would be one to watch. Post back if it comes back and we can give you more info on it.
