Communication module inop

    Do you think it would connect if you were 100s of miles away where you pick up service again or is it much more complicated than that simple solution? And are you paying for this service while it is not working?

    I don't think changing locations would work; metro Atlanta is saturated with cell coverage.

    The vehicle location and charging still show vehicle plugged in and located at home on 4/28.

    Good point about paying for service; when this is over, I'll ask for pro-rated extension on SafetyConnect service.

    The issue is not cellular service in general. The issue is that there is a problem with the account for the built-in cell phone.

    Does your phone service in the car still work and charging with the phone? Wonder what would happen if you disconnected the battery in the car and rehooked it...besides having to reset a lot of stuff?

    Telematics in the several vehicles affected completely ceased on 4/28.
    This includes Safety Connect and remote entune apps.

    What is a good guess for a common thread that would affect several vehicles on same day in random areas around the US?

    Just wondering, is this affecting only certain trims (Advanced as opposed to Premium or Plus)?

    Mine just got back online...check yours if you are also a 4/28 victim.

    I did nothing. I was driving this morning and all of a sudden (around 10:15am CDT 5/13) I heard the vehicle says (using the same voice as GPS guidance) "communication mod"...and it was cut off in the middle, I guess it should be something like "communication module is on" or "communication module is connected". Then the Safety Connect SOS green light is on. I was trying to update the status on my entune app right away but it was not successful. I tried again about 5 minutes later, and this time it works.

    I guess toyota did something on their end to fix the problem.

    Just checked my car while parked in the garage. Turned on the car and got the message "communication mod"...and it was cut off in the middle, and the safety connect SOS light went green and stayed on. Entune has also populated my ECO history with all the missing days. Life is good :)

    My mistake. Entune does work, but it didn't populated the ECO history with all the missing days - I mistakenly was looking at entune for my other prius plugin. The prius prime just started populating the ECO data with today's date.

    Mine started working again as well. Got the same "communications mod" then green light on.

    vehicle is still at dealer, but they report green light is on, entune app populates with vehicle location, charge status and eco ranking, but SOS button will not connect with operator.

    Has anyone actually tried to press the SOS button?

    note; pushing SOS button won't bring the police and fire, but will just connect you to an operator.

    Here's just a guess:
    Each car has a unique serial number of some kind......which is transmitted on every use.
    If their database is screwed up somehow, some ID numbers are rejected while others continue to work ???
    Also maybe there are a LOT of people screwed up and they just haven't notice yet ??

    Tried it. It starts out with the message "connecting to the emergency call center" ..., but then states "unable to connect to the emergency call center". A minute or two later I got a call on my home phone from SirusXM CVSI to see if there is an emergency with my car. I explained what was going on and the message from the car. They said the problem is probably still being worked on and try pushing the SOS button again tomorrow to see if the problem is fixed then. So it looks like SirusXM is also involved with Safety Connect.

    I guess one should be careful on pressing the SOS button. I am guessing if SirusXM CVSI was unable to contact me at home (via home phone), the police might have been called .
