I just rewatched the videos. I think for the first two I was not waiting the two seconds after hearing the beeps to open the door like they wanted me to.

The last video there was no beeps.and the door didnt unlock at all.

I would really appreciate another set of eyes and your opinion.

Yes sorry only two videos. I had another that I never put up because I wasn't holding the camera to the car.

    When you unlock your door, do you ;

    1) press the button on the FOB

or 2) gently touch the inside of the door handle?

I've only used the FOB occasionally in 2 years - usually to unlock the luggage compartment, so can't recall what delay. But, normally, I'd be walking up to car if I were using the FOB. The sensor on the handle is almost instant.

I'm intrigued - what is "... remove or replace my remote car starter ..."? I can't picture what it is or does.

Is it a Genuine TOYOTA thing?

I would suggest maybe having the remote car starter removed. That may have fouled something up? And does it actually start the engine? How?

My engine doesn't start unless I have the vent set to defrost, or I actually start moving over 5mph.

So what is it and what does it do? Does it start the engine, or the car itself?

On a normal car, it starts the engine to warm it up on a cold morning. But on a Prius? I have no idea.
In some U.S. states, or cities, somebody said that's illegal. You can't remote start a car and let it sit there idling.

#2. I keep the fob in my pocketbook.

I was told to wait two full seconds after hearing the beep to open the door. On the first video I do not wait two seconds. I never did with my last prius and they said the 2017 is different and may need more time.

Even though I tried to explain the last time this happened, NO sounds beeped to open the door and after several tries I had to use manual key. This is after they reset the FOB key.

if you had to wait 2 seconds, there would be more complaints. all you need is the beeps.

you're not wearing gloves are you?

I never wait two seconds. It is not necessary. Sometimes there is a slight hesitation after reaching for the door handle until it recognizes the FOB - but it always works the next second. Locking you out is a simple sign of a a REAL problem.

I was told 2 full seconds. I have had a Prius for 11 years before this but this mechanic said mine might be programmed different. They also clearly implied I may be touching the lock button on the door. Video clearly shows me with two fingers not anywhere near lock.

No one seems to be listening to me there when I told them that AFTER they reprogrammed my FOB key, that the door did not open. At all. I had to use manual.

That NEVER happened until they reprogrammed the FOB key/system until August. Before it was ALWAYS the door opening very slightly then me having to close door and repeat several times until it opened.

I thought that might be a big help to them to figure out problem.

    Update:

They removed remote starter and installed new actuator. Last week, drivers door would not open at all without manual key. Other doors did open. I'm waiting to see what Toyota is going to do next. This happens ONCE every five weeks now like clockwork. I'll going to try to upload a video so you can see. Mechanic has no clue what is going on.
