Entering Diagnostic Mode

    I searched but did not find a post about entering diagnostic mode of Prius 2010. Is that possible at all?

    In Generation II, we can see the voltage rating,... which is to me important. I may be wrong because I am new to this type of car but a Google search brings up a lot of discussions like this one on generation II.

    Get a Scangauge, you wont regret it. Then you can see most all of the important functions in your vehicle.

    Thanks for the info. It is really an interesting gadget. I can see the cable connected to it looks like an Ethernet cable. Where is the other end hooked to? Toyota should allow Gen III owners to be able to enter the Diagnostic Mode just like Gen II owners.

    2010'ers, yes, but you need the nav unit. Using the ScanGauge is easier.

    Besides the built in stuff to SG that can be displayed, there are XGauges. See Current Gen III XGUAGE list for SGII | PriusChat for a list of stuff you can display w/SG. I don't know if that's the current list.

    An example alternative would be to use something like the Torque app on an Android device w/a Bluetooth OBD 2 dongle. See GenIII Prius Custom PIDs for Torque app | PriusChat.

    If you simply want to get the 12 volt battery voltage and you have no factory nav system (on 2010 and 2011 Priuses), a multimeter is WAY cheaper than the above.

    How do you check the battery voltage in the 2010 navigation system? I didn't know that was possible. Sorry if this was discussed in another thread. Thanks.

    I will need more time to digest all of this new stuff :)

    I understand that there are 2 different batteries in the car: the 12V and the high voltage one for driving? I want to measure both of them. Can this be done with a cheaper device than the Scangauge. The display screen of the car already gives info. about MPG.

    Yes, Scangauge will measure both batteries, and 100+ other things your car wont tell you.

    Hold Info button down while flipping headlights on/off 3 times

    Don't adjust any settings you don't understand. If you are going to anyway then jot down the original settings so you'll be able to restore any "oops".

    If you don't have nav then you'll need to measure the voltage directly or through something connected to the OBD port.

    Via this thread how to do this on gen 3? | PriusChat
    You must have NAV since you need an MFD.
    1) Apply parking brake
    2) Press Power Button twice, foot not on brake pedal. You are now in accessory mode.
    3)Hold down Info button on right side of MFD. and at the same time turn Headlights on and off 4 times.
    4) A menu will appear on MFD.
    5) Select Fault diagnosis to see battery voltage.

    I went into the screen using that thread, I am not where I can try it now but I remember doing it then.

    Prius II do not have NAV :( Can't complain because I paid less for it than other models :)
