    One thing I noticed over the years is that the dealer oil & lube service is actually not that expensive, especially if you find "coupon". And it is free for 10k change twice with a new Toyota vehicle purchased.

    It is one of the services, they use to lure customers to the service counter for their revenue. Depending on how often you do oil change, you might even save over DIY if you have to start from scratch, buying tools, learning skills, getting the hands dirty.

    That being said, I have read horror stories on dealer services too. And, just because you are bringing your Prius to a Toyota dealer, it does not guarantee they use OEM fluid. One of the Toyota dealers I have taken my Prius for an oil change used Pennzoil for all their services.
