Hey all. I just installed an injen intake and now I am getting a CEL for P0101. Anyone else have this issue?

    Thanks

Mass Air flow sensor... You're gonna have to find a way to trick the computer into thinking everything is normal...

If you find a way to spoof the sensor reading so it's back within parameters and no longer throws a code, let us know.... Would be good info to know.

You replace stock filter and intake, then try conning the car into thinking you still have a Mass Air Flow sensor, and it's within parameters. This is the MAF sensor that the car's computer uses to adjust the fuel injector spray. Am I the only one thinking this is not productive?

Or is that not part of the equation, lol.

Both my husband's older friend and I have installed the HPS short arm air intake on two Prius v's, my 2012, and his 2017. My husband installed the equivalent HPS intake on his 2016 Nissan Versa Note.

While this is not the INJEN intake, all three intakes each using the HPS with a K&N filter for the past two years, have worked perfectly with absolutely no CEL activation. HPS on Prius v completed install.jpg Steves 2017 Prius v.jpg Nissan air intake 004.jpg

Each HPS intake was around $180 delivered. The INJEN is $230-240+ delivered.

It just proves that price is not always an indication of function or quality.

Although INJEN intakes might be C.A.R.B. listed, HPS chose not to spend the cost of certification as it is very expensive.

That does not mean that it would not pass, if it was submitted for certification.

My experience with HPS is that the quality of the components, bends and welds in the tubing is exceptionally high quality.

As much as I can glean: a Mass Air Flow sensor is used to precisely measure the air flow, and reports this to the car's computer, which in turn optimizes the fuel injectors with this info and various other inputs. If you've disconnected the MAF sensor, the care is running less than optimum, at least partially in some sort of fail-safe mode?

You're likely either burning lean or rich, and neither is good, for the engine, or the environment.

I search the web for the Prius INJEN air intake and found it to be a little more complicated than the HPS. I uploaded a photo of the INJEN installed. injen air intake.jpg

It should work. I'd call Ingen and ask them about it. You can see where the mass air sensor is the tube is smaller. Probably close to stock size.

I'll stick with the HPS. It also eliminates the rat-mouse home.

The freed up space of the OEM filter and housing is ideal for the Ruien oil catc occ installed Prius V 001.jpg h can.

There less drastic ways to rat proof, a bit of mesh over the intake.

    Appreciate I'm the "thorn" here...

Clean your MAF and make sure you plugged it back in. A loose connection is the most likely issue.

I have had an Injen on my Prius for almost 2 years now, no CEL, better pickup, better sound, less clutter in the engine bay.

There's a place for the MAF sensor?

What kind of question is that? How else would the car run? Of course theres a place for the MAF sensor.

I think I may have damaged the maf sensor when I installed it. I cleaned it to no avail. I ordered a new one waiting on it to come in.
