Honda as it gets ready to reveal a prototype version of its 2019 Insight model at next month’s North American International Auto Show.
    . . .
For now, Honda isn’t saying much beyond promising it will take a “new approach” with the third-generation hybrid-electric vehicle, among other things opting for a conventional, albeit sleek and sexy design. It will also get a new, two-motor gas-electric drivetrain.

I'm not sure this is the best market for a hybrid but what is the alternative?

Another source:Green Car Congress: Honda to unveil prototype of Gen 3 Insight hybrid at Detroit show; two-motor hybrid system

The Insight—to be manufactured at Honda’s Greensburg, Indiana plant, alongside Civic and CR-V using domestic and globally sourced parts – will join the Clarity series (Clarity Fuel Cell, Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid) and the all-new 2018 Accord Hybrid, arriving at dealerships nationwide early next year.

Read the comments as they compared it to plugin-hybrids.

I like the looks much better than the Clarity. Is it about the same size as the Civic? Hopefully they get a plug in version later on.

Really? I thought it looked to "1997 Toyota Corolla-esq" for my taste ... not that there was anything wrong with that style.

The Clarity is too busy for my taste, but it's drivetrain and space are very compelling. I prefer cars that are mostly clean lines. But styling is not my top priority. The way automakers copy each other it's hard to tell who makes what anymore.

But why did Toyota have to copy Mazda’s big black grille fad??

They were able to make the Gen 4 Prius which is heavier (more gravitational effect) than the Corolla. The Corolla had the black treatment. The Prius does not.
The comparable Lexus models are not much heavier than the Toyota ones, but they got an extra lick with the ugly stick.

Meh, if you look at it long enough it’ll grow on you:):

And if you drive one, you won’t see the front but get to enjoy all the other goodies that go along with it(y).

Grow on you like a fungus?

I was getting accustomed to the Corolla. When I considered buying one, SWMBO was very unhappy with that look. We saw no Toyota alternatives until the Gen 4 Prius.

I’m sure you mentioned that “you can’t see the front from the inside”.

    Which elicited  or .

Which then led to “yes dear”.

But you ended up in a Prius, so it worked out(y).

Yeah. Our oldest son had a Prius and now has a Prius v that to uses to transport his small dogs to dog shows & agility.

We were looking to replace our 2008 Corolla and also considering a mid sized dog. We tried a dog crate in the back seat of our Corolla and realized a Corolla may not have been the best option. We then started leaning towards a Prius instead of a Camry even though we enjoyed our 1996 Camry. We still use the Corolla too.
When we realized the Corolla was too cramped, my wife suggested the Prius since she knew I had been researching them.
