Intelligent Tester

    In principle, yes, but with full support only for model years 2007 and earlier, and only if the unit works and has the correct program card. See Toyota’s page about the Diagnostic Tester (the name for the Intelligent Tester in the U.S.), and the Diagnostic Toolset Operator’s Manual, posted unofficially.

    The current diagnostic system, which works with all generations of Prius cars, is Toyota Techstream.

    Ah ok. So unit is universal up to that year but needs vehicle specific program.
    Thanks. Was thinking could avoid a clunky old laptop and Techstream if I could get that cheap but I’ll stick with the clunky old laptop plan.

    I don’t know if the program cards were vehicle specific, or if they were just updated for each model year, and presumably different for Japan, Europe, North America, and other regions. Unless you’re a collector, I wouldn’t buy a Diagnostic Tester or Intelligent Tester today, but if you already have one, you could check which years, models, and sales areas are listed on the VEHICLE SELECT screens.
