You need a locksmith or dealer who can do a no-keys seed reset. Dealers can do this, or you may be able to find a locksmith who will travel to the car. Once the parking paw is set, you've got to power the car up to get it out of Park. It is not necessary to replace the immobilizer ECU on Gen2+ (it is necessary on Gen1).

Here is something about the complexity of getting the car out of park:

Shift Control Actuator, Temp. Over-Ride. | PriusChat

If it was easy to get to the parking pawl, then theft would be much easier. So the dolly option is about it unless you want to experiment a bit.

Now I'm sure the op is 110% honest but do you think we should be posting this information on a PUBLIC forum?

    Suggest op contacts dealer.

I don't want people reading how to bypass the ignition system or putting car into Neutral (to allow towing) without the keys. Who knows who might come and test this out on my car (probably at about 4am when I'm asleep).

I'd just do a google search "move prius without key" (y)

Maybe a Prius could be a good future car to nick? Nice big fat catalytic converter, the HV battery will defo be worth having, the copper wiring in the motors? The spare parts. Nobody suspecting the parts would be stolen. Actually, it sounds ideal.

$1,200.00 new and at least $500 used. Often damaged in front end collisions. Stainless steel, not copper.

You cannot easily move a Gen2 with no keys/bootup, dollies or drag is best.

If you cannot open car, dealer can make a simple "entry key" from the VIN that will open the drivers door and do nothing else....or use a BigEasy or similar to get inside.

You can reset seed etc with Techstream as long as you can get inside the car and car has a good 12V battery attached. Make sure you have a battery charger or 2nd battery attached the entire time unless the 12V in the car is perfect condition.

If this is a one time thing, you may want to find a local auto locksmith who will come to you and make the car work. Might be easier than going through all the steps to learn how to do it, and cheaper than towing to the dealer.
