Not charging after plugging in

Check that the hybrid battery warmer is set to its default on setting. Could have got turned off by someone playing with it at the dealer. See the owners manual on where to find it. Try a charge now if it's a scheduled charge that's not work and or redue the schedule. You using Toyota's EVSE that came with your car? Try rebooting your EVSE cable by removing the 120 or 240 supply voltage.

My first thought, too.

 

My experience from the first generation Prius plugin is the flashing light comes on when it detects a problem with the EVSE or with the vehicles internal charging power supply. Normal operation for a delayed charge in the first generation plugin would be a single short duration charge notification and then it would go away until delay charge started.

 

When the green charge light illuminates, then blinks and goes out, it's because you have a charge event scheduled in your charge timer and your charge system is standing-by and waiting for the next event to begin. Just clear your events and try again, or select "charge now".

If you've got charge events scheduled in your charge timer, your Prime will wait for the next event to begin charging unless you either clear the events or select "charge now".

 

Quite correct, but the tread died almost three years ago.

Also, if you have a charge event scheduled and want to charge now, the easy way is to just unplug the EVSE handle and plug it back in within about 5 seconds.

 

That's great to know. I have a charge event scheduled for Thursday and nothing for Wednesday. So tomorrow (Wednesday) I'll try the 5 second re-plug. Thanks

PS - do you wait for the green light to blink and go out before unplugging, or do you just unplug as soon as you see the green light?

 

Good question. Hmmmm. I'm not sure I ever paid much attention. I generally wait for the light to go back out to confirm the need to override the schedule, but I don't think that's necessary. The manual just says,

I just pulled the plug after a couple seconds and re-inserted it, and the charge started.
