I've read many threads in here, but I didn't find problem of my car.
It's Toyota Prius-3 2010, check engine light on and code is P0401. EGR Valve works well, I cleaned pipe, gasket, cleaned throttle plate and everything but nothing helps.
I have (light on) it maybe 1 year or more, the light goes away and come back,I'm in Los Angeles and all they time is sunny day and weather is nice, I've seen 3 times, when i drove in rain evening and morning I didn't see light on.. then, couple days and comes again. I think maybe EGR cooler has to be replace? or I do not know why in cold weather time light goes away..

How many miles are on your car? There is a 150k miles emissions warranty in California

nope, at that time I changed battery, dealer didn't say anything.. I buy now "CRC Guaranteed To Pass Emissions Test Formula, 12 Ounces " (Powerful detergent additives super-clean your entire fuel system, reducing emissions and improving performance
    • Lowers CO, HC, and NOx emissions to guarantee a passing emissions test) I'll try that, if not i'm thinking to change EGR Culler Sub Accembly that will my last chance to fix it because it has a electrical connection and should be problem in there, but EGR Valve stick works great I do not need to change it.

There are many threads here from people who had that problem.
One guy tried everything, to no avail. Then he disconnected his 12V battery for a few minutes, which let the code clear. The light went off and stayed off.

Using an OBD-II tool, you can reset the error and clear the light. If it takes two or three days to show up after it clears, you can try taking it in for smog right after you clear the error. Prius cars are super-low emission, even with this error. So there's a very good chance you'll pass.

An OBD-II tool costs about $50. You might have a friend who has one.

I know that way to reset, but that guy from smog check station told me don't reset, just fix it in regular way ...anyway, anyone has an experience how to replace EGR cooler assembly? It need to be in specific position or angle, any video or recommendation I will appreciate.

Have you checked the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor? That is is one of the possible causes for the DTC.

If you mean MAF sensor it also changed, I think my Prius 3 generation does not have MAP sensor.

Where is that located? I'll just replace it, if it has connection with EGR. Cold weather has impact to some parts, and light comes off.

It's on the intake manifold right next to the throttle body. Pull the air box and you should be able to get at it. Held on by a single bolt, I believe.

The DTC for P0401 lists the MAP as a possible cause.

Is your car Toyota Prius evropean or usa?

US. You need to find another dealer. You can monitor MAP with SGII, Torque, Engine Link, Tecstream, etc so it does exist.

There is very much a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor in the U.S. gen 3 Prius. It is where I describe and I've had mine in my hands and cleaned it with MAF cleaner while completing an intake manifold, EGR port de-sludging. Whether or not it has anything to do with P0401 is another matter altogether.

Your dealer probably only shows it as sensor assy, vacuum (for EFI) part #8942147010

2010 Toyota Prius Base 1.8L ELECTRIC/GAS Automatic CVT. #8942147010: Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor

It's already been said, but there's a specific Toyota cleaner for the MAP sensor. Luckily, the MAP sensor is really easy to get to.
