On September 8, after the Gen4 reveal, Danny, the Moderators, and a few others will record a "What Drives Us" show, discussing all the things we saw and heard.

We are scheduling the show for midnight, Las Vegas time. Make your own adjustments. Trust me, we do not get to pick the time nor duration of the reveal event. It's going to be a late night.

You can watch the show live via YouTube below or through the Google+ Event Page at the link below. Additionally, we will open this thread during the show for real-time interaction and Q&A. After the show, replies containing questions will be amended (by the Mods) with answers. This way, this thread can be a repository of information.

Hi Danny - What are your thoughts on the interior/dash? It seems they are using lots of Piano Black Plastics and White Plastics. Is the dash soft touch?

What is the wheel size being offered on the red car with the white spoke inserts? Are they offering different color inserts on the wheels?

It appears the engine hood has a hump in the middle, any idea why?

I would say that Toyota designed this car more for the European market then the US market. It has a Euro flair to it.....

It seems to have Li battery for some models and NiMH for others?
What cooling system for batteries? Air?

    Any mention of AWD?

When are we going to hear about this Eco grade? Is it going to look different to the standard trim?

How about the Plugin version, any news about that?

    We need specs please.

ICE capacity? Is it a completely new ICE ?

How about the CVT gearbox, has that been re-designed to be more responsive and quiet under highway acceleration?

Unfortunately, we didn't get specs outside of what they offered in the press release. Additionally, the hood releases had been disabled, and several fuses had been pulled to ensure we didn't activate features they didn't want us experiencing.

We did some "investigation" in one of the models, and discovered that the battery is still air-cooled, though the ducting appears shorter. In the attached image, you can see the intake grate at the right-rear passenger leg area, which almost immediately attaches to the blower motor. This is with the rear seat bottom removed.

Lion battery is shown in one of the photos. Is it standard for all trims?

I doubt there is AWD with that trunk size, unfortunately the Reveal raised even more questions that are being unanswered.

Wait a sec: you guys managed to pull the rear seat up? I salute you. :)

Is that grey-blue zone the battery??

You couldn't look at the engine compartment? That is pretty lame.

I'm glad you guys at least could pull the rear seat cushion...

We were scolded by a Toyota official after a few minutes. Not sure if they didn't want us seeing the battery, or if they didn't want us breaking one of the few show cars available.

I'm still in disbelief after that "reveal" last night. A 2nd year marketing major could have done better. I'm on the east coast - so this was midnight, and SO not worth the wait. I could go on - but if I was a Toyota exec heads would roll. It should have been about the CAR, not a few design folks and the US guy - horrible "host" - whoops I'm going on.
Re the car (I would certainly go with the 2016 next year if enticed) NOT impressed in pics. Rear seems so bulky and the lights are simply too star treky- front and rear. Not a fan of the angry moustached look from the front- and the so bulky bottom rear. The side view is quite OK. The dash...please... - appears so disjointed. We actually loved the gen 3 buttress and the lower storage.
Had such high hopes for the gen 4, and waiting to upgrade. Of course looking thru the actual car may change my opinion - BUT - for the (now huge) money expected for a v(5) model which we have in the '10 - we could go with a competitor...and probably will. Would think $30-34K would be a much wiser choice to spend elsewhere - and the addtl 10% fuel savings..not worth it. We'll wait till the showroom, but our 'excitement level dropped 90%.

euro press release mentions significantly better highway mpg due to new hybrid system as well as quieter, more responsive and more natural acceleration.

They also mention NiMH, while nobody mentioned lion anywhere i could see so I am not sure where are people seeing that.

Also one of the top pics show wide HUD which wasnt announced.

I am mostly interested in how it looks in real life and how is the interior quality perception... Corolla grade, better or worse or what?

There may be a HUD on some packages. It's color, too!
