Hi guys. I was called today to come diagnose a Prius 04 that could not start.
On getting to where the car was parked, discovered the 12V battery was dead.

The battery would be replaced this weak hopefully, before I continue my diagnosis.

But what baffled me when I opened the rear, was something I have never seen on any Prius before.
It was a kind of like the normal NIMH traction pack, in configurations and size. On reading the cover, it was written HYMOTIONG LITHIUM ION INSIDE.

    Some questions
    1. Has anyone here own a Prius with such a technology side by side with the original NIMH traction battery in the hatch?

    2. What does the hymotion lithium ack do? Does it support the main traction battery, or ....?

    3. Is the hymotion lithium pack in the rear as a range extender of some sort?

    Thanks for your responses.

It was one of the companies adding a plugin lit before the PiP. Look in this buried forum.

Pls does anyone have a hymotion manual, showing how to removed the hymotion pack from the car entirely, revert the system to using the stock hybrid battery?

    Thanks guys

I see that the L5 charges requiring 120VAC in North America, etc.
    Here's my question:
Can a 220VAC power source, as is obtainable in Nigeria used to charge the hymotion pack? Would there be cable heating problems?

    Thanks for your replies.

Those manuals should help you get what you need, but feel free to call me with any questions.

Hymotion systems are orphaned/abandoned project. They will break down and there will not be a possibility of fixing it.

Thanks Eric, would have the 12V battery replaced first and see how things go.

There should be a bypass plug to take the system out of the loop.
Generally it is zip tied some the unit on the driver side.
