I'm not that up on hybrid batteries, but isn't that in fact quite a marked voltage difference?

The OBD reader I'm using is Elm327 compliant. Is that all that's required to be able to read P0AA6?

I have a shop nearby that can read hybrid codes. If I've cleared the ECU, would this code still be stored, or do I need to drive it for a while for it to come back? And if so, how long?

If you reset the ecu or clear codes with Dr Prius then you have to operate it long enough to have the fault happen again. How often does the fault occur for you? Maybe you have to go to the shop and start the car multiple times until it faults- or drive around and (carefully) check for hybrid control codes until it pops and then go straight to the shop.

The shop needs to have a scantool that can read INF or sub codes from the hybrid control ecu- that will tell the general area where the ecu has determined to be at fault.

If you wanted to be able to read codes from all systems on your Gen2- go read the sticky thread at the top of the Gen2 Technical discussion forum.

The shop I dropped it off at a week ago tried telling me the ignition button was at fault, which I knew was bullshit, so I pulled it out of there. 12v was dead from sitting in the lot, was 4 years old so no surprise, replaced that, drove for 50 miles, and interestingly neither P0446 and P0261 codes, nor the check engine light resurfaced (the other dash lights as well as the hybrid fault light were still on). I went to auto zone to check for hybrid codes, and got C1256 and C1310. C1256 I think is due to a shoddy DIY brake job some months ago, not sure how to further diagnose C1310. If it's the battery, I have green bean's warranty, but have to be certain before they'll come service it. Don't want to sped $150 for toyota to read the codes, I have some laptops with xp and will have to try to find my mini VCI cable, but I'm wondering if there's anyone besides toyota that can read the subcodes.

It might also be worth noting that I haven't had cold air from the AC for a while. Got it tested for leaks during the last recharge, and they found none, but the recharge only lasted a few months. This was many thousands of miles ago, however, so I'm not sure if it's relevant.

Felt the p0446 and p2601 in the title was muddying things, though it may be a good idea now to combine them considering the 12v seems to have been the cause of those two codes.

Dr Prius read P0AA6 as well, now have to isolate the leak, can't touch battery without voiding warranty, however, so that saves me some work.

"Easiest" next step would be to use a scantool that can read the INF or sub codes. That would give you the area of the HV system that the ecu thinks the isolation loss is.

Techstream is always good for this. Also you could look at the Autel AP200 device and app, or the ThinkDiag device and app. App review at sticky thread at top of Gen2 Technical discussion forum.

ap200 appears to be stuck. that locking tab is responsible but pressing it does nothing.

Another in-app purchase, maybe? "For an extra $25, upgrade to removable...."

in any case, the P0AA6 subcodes are 526 and 613, and I have a B1423 code for the AC system.

In theory, how long can I get away driving it like this? If the transaxle does need replacing and it's going to cost thousands, I'll probably just run the thing into the ground. at 270k it seems things are just going to keep breaking.
