It sounds to me like you got the spiral cable out of center when installing it. IIRC, my used one came with tape holding it in place and a strong caution to not let it rotate. I don't know if there's a procedure for realigning it. If not, trial and error might take a long time.

Thanks for the response. Mine came with a lock tab, which prevents it from rotating. I waited until after it was installed before pulling the tab, so I don't think that should be an issue.

Well, so much for that theory. Did you see this thread? Perhaps there are clues in it. DTC C1231 Help | PriusChat

Sometimes after a spiral cable replacement, the explanation for an angle sensor code turns out to be that the angle sensor is still attached to the old spiral cable, sitting on the garage floor or in the trash.

Not every time, but worth checking.

I haven't solved mine yet. My steering angle sensor definitely spun when changing my clock spring. I used the tech stream to preform a l calibration on the steering angle sensor and did not solve my problem. Do I need to take the wheel off and spin the sensor with the tech steam hooked up until the sensor comes in value?

I'm pretty sure you need to techstream / vci cable to reset the steering angle sensor via the EPMS menu. once you do this, that should allow you to clear that code
