The usual replacements on Google don't seem to have the little snorkel outlet for venting battery fumes.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement battery with a snorkel vent, please?

The little plastic elbow itself doesn't come with the battery. Even the dealer replacement battery will just have a hole there. You pop the plastic elbow out of the old battery and into the hole in the new one.

I have used to non-venting AGM batteries with no problems. I don't know what the charging rate is for the battery, but I suspect that under normal circumstances it isn't very high.

    Removed battery.
    No sign of any problem.
Slow ( 2 p) charged it on the bench for 4 hours
Let it sit overnight on the bench.
    Charged again the next day.
Almost immediately saw it was fully charged again.
Reinstalled and went for a drive and it was OK

I got mine from Napa they're about $200 everywhere that has them. Dealership is more, however it has a better warranty.

When we got rear ended, the battery was in about 12 million pieces.

Almost a year later and the aux battery in the Prius just died.
So I'm re-charging it now hoping it will hold a charge.
This is the second occurrence (this time last year, same thing, possibly related to cold weather?).
It's 11 years old,, so probably way past due time for new aux battery.
I'd hate to get stuck somewhere with a dead aux battery.

Local Toyota Parts Department quoted a replacement cost of $195.99 + $18.0 core = $236.85.
Local Toyota Service Department quoted $390+ to replace the battery with a new one they have in stock.
Will do the install myself if the old battery holds a charge.
    It's a 7-1/2 minute job.
    Thanks.

Re-checked battery charger meter and got a full reading.
Re-instlled just the battery but none of the trim parts (yet).
Started up and waited for system to reboot.
Turned off Sola Fan just in case.
Drove to Striper Cafe for breakfast (big ARD) and let her sit for 45 minutes.
Drove around Montuzuma Hills loop (about 5 miles).
    No problems at all.

Not sure if she needs a new battery.
Or just needs to be driven more.
I guess the constant electrical drain in modern cars is a problem...

Will monitor for a few days and if OK, re-install all the trim parts.

Looked into NAPA replacement but not sure if it fits (notorious for saying their batteries fit when they don't).
I think I'll just pay a little more and go with a genuine Toyota replacement.

Combine that with short trips and you're guaranteed to have dead batteries.

If your original battery lasted 11 years, why even think about switching brands. From my experience and reading, the Toyota batteries are by far the best. You can buy cheaper batteries but then those are ... you guessed it ... cheaper.

Finally went flat again, primarily because I didn't close the trunk lid (hatch) properly.
So the interior light was on for around a couple of days or thereabouts and drained the battery.
Sure is a pain in the butt getting the hatch released with nary a yellow handle in sight!

Anyway, NAPA wanted $275 for their gold plated battery...no thanks.
Charging up the old battery now and hoping it will get across the bridges to Antioch CA tomorrow.
A genuine Toyota replacement is $195 + Tax and no core since I'll be doing the swap in the parking lot.
Sure hope the replacement lasts as long as the original and has the little snorkel hole like the original.
