The fob is not meant to be able to be locked in the car. Otherwise people would get locked out -_-

The default for an oil change is every 10,000 and tire rotation every 5,000.

Before I start exploring the menus, does anyone know if it's possible to shut off the tire rotation warning? I really don't need or want that particular warning.

It is not possible, AFAIK. check the "Customizations" section of the manual. It lists user & dealer customizations.

It's not really any particular warning, it's just every 5K miles it comes on, says it's maintenance time. Get adept at dismissing it, done?

It's a dumb counter, does not get into specifics, and if you're low mileage, to the point that months would govern before miles, it is pointless. I would just stay on top of the published schedule, ignore the displayed warning, other than to dismiss it.

Toyota could take a cue from Honda on this. Honda uses Maintenance Minder, which monitors miles (or kilometers) and apparently various other factors. Not sure what, maybe number of starts, coolant temps, rpm? It counts down in percent to next maintenance interval, and from 15% down displays a code. The Owner's Manual explains what each code item entails, and that's basically the entire schedule, there is no other published schedule.

The lack of a rear wiper is pathetic. It's like the car was transported back to the 70s. The obvious solution would have been to not use the weird rear window. I don't buy that it makes a difference because the regular prius does just fine with a normal window and a wiper. When you are chasing decimal points you start to make stupid decisions.

    That depends.
My Prius Two has a rear wiper. I usually only use it first thing in the morning to remove fog. My rear window stays clear due to the air flow when driving.
Of course, your window is a different shape.

I don't think a Model 3 has a rear wiper either. The shape of certain rear windows allows air flow to take care of most of the problem with the defroster taking care of the rest.

When I'm at a stoplight there is no wind flow over the rear window at all. Snow is just going to pile up and prevent me from seeing out. There's no defense in this. It's a stupid design.

I still love the car, though.

Are you stating categorically that the air flow does not keep the rear window of my Prius Two clear?
Or are you saying the Model 3 has a rear wiper? I do not recall seeing one on my coworker's Model 3.

I'm saying, "The shape of certain rear windows allows air flow to take care of most of the problem with the defroster taking care of the rest" is just plain false. I've seen snow stick to the back windows of every car I've ever driven up to 70 miles per hour, even with the interior above 70°F and the rear defroster on continuously. I've even had it accumulate on a clean window in such conditions.

It depends on the water content of the snow and the temperature. Wet snow near the freezing temperature can stick like glue. Look at the picture I posted:

I was mainly referring to rain. I do not use the rear wiper for snow. I clean it off manually.

When I am driving and snow or rain is falling I'm not going to get out to clean off a stupid window, I'm going to use this amazing invention called a windshield wiper. If you are on the freeway (which I almost never am) it might blow the rain off but certainly not around town. It's an indefensible omission in a 30K hatchback. I guess I'll have to figure out a way to install one myself. Hmmmm, I bet I could start a new business.

I doubt the unique shape of your rear window is windshield wiper friendly. Of course, you knew that when you bought the car. ;)

There are wiper delete threads in both Gen3 and Gen4. Obviously, those people feel rear wiper is not only necessary but also prefers to be not there at all. I would not go out of way to remove it, if rear wiper came with a car, but certainly not having one is not a major concern. For all of sedans I owned, I never had rear wiper and never felt a need for it. For hatchback, I usually have so much cargo piled up, I can't see through the rear window even in sunny days. LOL

It's incredibly common for snow, ice and slush to accumulate on the rear window while I'm driving. It can accumulate and cover the entire window in under a minute in some cases, making manual cleaning impossible.
