Can you add a temporary spare tire by cutting some of the styrofoam in the XLEs cargo area? Has this been done? If so how? Can you order a “spare tire” upgrade? I own a 2011 Prius IV and want to get a new one. No spare tire is my problem and the LE … just not enough options. Thanks. Kuffs

if not, you could carry it in the hatch like i do, or behind a front seat

The Gen4 2016 Prius Four (similar to a Limited current year I think?) I had did have a wheel well under all that foam. The space saver spare I kept from my 2013 fit in there just needed the tie down. I never got around to cutting up the foam but you can do that. There is also a foam set you can purchase from LE or Prius Two trims that have spares. It's pricy but possible. A few people were able to cut the foam to fit a full size spare. Really any spare from gen 3 or gen 4 will fit and I've heard wheels from corollas do too.

Unless you're looking at an XLE AWDe. The extra components for the AWD are kept in that space.

Simplest/cheapest solution is to stick with level(s) having the spare as standard equipment. If I'm not mistaken that only the base level now?

Is it just me or is that kinda nuts, btw...

See the following post for useful information on a spare tire and rim that will fit and images.
Can 2019 LE spare fit in the XLE? | PriusChat

My question for the XLE is what is the best way to remove the foam inserts to expose the wheel well. There are white plastic 'screws' on either side of the foam pieces. Some indicate that it can be screwed out. Other say that it pops out (using a tape covered screwdiver tip). And, what is the part number for the hold down screw to keep wheel in place...
