I've seen a few threads on this but not a solution. After being driving, my 13' is squeaking when its rocked in park. My dealer has brushed this off, but im wondering if anyone else has encountered this before i go back and press the issue.

i too have just started noticing this; last time it occurred was last nite after parking in the garage. I believe it occurs ( for me..) after putting it in park and before turning it off; while settling in w/ the parking cowl??. Once in park, after letting foot off the brake i notice it rocking to and fro w/ the assoc rocking noise. To me it almost sounds suspension like; I'm not sure if it's brake related or not. I than turned the car off, opened the door and placed my foot on the ground and began to rock the car to and fro and it seemed to produce the same sound. it's been warm here by Chicago winter weather standards and wondering if it's humidity related... not sure and not too concerned as functionally everything seems in order. I will continue to monitor it though....

    I could not repeat:
    • 2010 Prius bought May 2009
    • 10 mile commute
    • temp ~70F, damp from last nights rain
    • 10 mile commute
    • turned off car
    • grabbed "B" pillar and rocked back and forth
    • one initial, slight 'thunk' but no squeek

again, this happens after the car has been driven and put in park. on or off doesnt matter. If the car is allowed to sit for a while the noise goes away. Heat related? still very annoying.

I'm not sure what you mean. Nothing is running. Just me gently moving the car back in forth.

the timing of the noise doesn't seem to match up with the rocking. just my perception. i can't believe the dealer is ignoring that, it's pretty obvious. maybe try another dealer, or call toyota.

can you tell where it's coming from? front/back, left/right, near wheel or more toward the middle?

that's the sound i heard on mine last nite and last couple of days. Yours sounds as though your recording device was right on top of the sound; i.e. very close to source. I'l keep a special "ear" out in the coming days to see if this continues or not for me. It's weird that just as I started to have this noise, someone posts a question re the same thing....

I've been noticing it for a few months now. Heat and humidity are the norm in FL so I don't think it's related to that necessarily. I'm going to take in again after the holidays so hopefully getting mine fixed will provide some answers for you and others hearing the same type of noise.

I tried the driver tire both forward and back and side to side without luck. Now if the body is involved, I would suspect front MacPhearson shocks. I would not rule out engine mount bushings. Since you can reproduce at will, it should not take long to diagnose in the shop.
