my 12v aux battery died as i accidentally left one cabin light one overnight, and i'm looking to replace it. however, i can only find one on amazon.com : http://amzn.to/2tFRxJa

There is no size info on this, is there no other brands i can try to get for lower cost? I checked walmart and weirdly their battery checker does not list prius . i checked costco and they don't know...

what is the size i should look for?

I'm not sure if it's the same battery as regular 3rd gen Prius, might well be. There's several options:

The stock battery is a Yuasa, believe the dealerships should carry that, though it's getting overly expensive, over $270 a couple of years back when I was looking.

Canadian Tire carries a rebadged Exide, at least for ours, under the name "Motomaster Eliminator Ultra AGM"

I went with the Optima Yellow Top, coming up on 2 years back. Amazon has it, but AFAIK know they're actually coming from SaskBattery. That's the route I went, it was maybe $10 cheaper, it was shipped for free (no small task), well packed, and they only charged GST. I hooked it up to a smart charger before install.

Next time around, I believe I'll go the Canadian Tire route. I had a recent experience there buying a battery for another family member's Honda Civic, and the Can Tire battery was physically identical, just rebadged to Motomaster, their house brand. They had a pro quality electronic load tester on hand, and were quite willing to check it status before selling to me (it was fine). There's a $20 core charge, refunded when you bring back the old battery.

My notes, and again, this is for a regular 3rd gen Prius, might be the same:

Any S24B24R group/capacity/size/format battery will work. Some prefer to stay with AGM. They come in sealed and vented designs. Be sure to hook up the vent tube on a vented battery.

I buy a Yuasa YBX3053 lead acid3 months ago and works fine. Have the same size, the same specs and is more cheap (75euros).
Why buy Agm? 3 or 4 times more expensive and life time isnt so different. ( lead acid 4-6 years vs agm 5-7 years)

The original was AGM. What you bought is SLA and has reversed posts.

Spill-proof in accident, or no? Plus venting into the cabin?

Yes it's spill proof ( it's secure inside the car) and have a vent pipe like the original.

I've been using this for 3 yrs. in October. Didn't have to modify the cable ends, just removed the bolt and inserted the battery post and replaced the bolt. I used a one and one half inch piece of wood under the hold down. The battery is sealed, no vent and no spill in any position.
