Any opinions on tire pressure for this car? It says in the door 36 front 35 rear. I just checked for the first time since buying a month ago and the dealer had them at 51! I reduced to 40 and 39 for the moment.

51 might be the max psi for the tire and it was that way for the long transportation from JAPAN. Yes, 40/39 is what I keep mine.

Do you ever pay for that? I don't think I have seen it listed on the sales slip. Of course it might have been included in the exorbitant "documentation fee". :(

PDI's usually lumped in with shipping, around $1500? Total larceny of course. Oh and don't get me started about documentation fee, lol.

Isn't it usually labeled, "Dealer Prep?"

As for tire pressure, I used to keep mine at 42/40. But this Prime is so much more efficient, that I think I'm going to stay a little more comfortable now and keep it at the door post recommendations.

If you are talking about Destination charges, then they are typically not negotiable. The same amount of charge goes on the same model new cars no matter where it is delivered. I guess, picking it up in NE and knowing it came from JAPAN, I got most out of the cost I paid.

Never seen that entry on my sales slip. In my state, they may charge fee for state inspection, but that is usually free from dealers I have dealt with.

Took a look at our local dealership; seems like the numbers have escalated quite a bit since I last darkened their doorstep:

Check to make sure those two rubber plugs are installed on the undercarriage. They are shipped in the glove box or center storage console. Seems those are overlooked quite a bit. If not installed it's a sure sign the Pre Delivery Inspection checklist was ignored.

Where undercarriage do they get installed? I did not find two plugs when I took my car first time, but I am now curios if they are installed.

An info pop-up, from my previous posted image:

    upload_2019-3-28_9-12-33.png

And a thread link regarding the plugs (3rd gen but similar?). We were missing one btw, figured it out, a year or three down the road. The openings are apparently for some kinda locking pins, used during shipping?

Thanks. If they are at the same general place as Gen3, I am gonna have to rise the car to see if those plugs are installed on mine. As for the Canadian "Freight", it is definitely the same as US "Destination charges", but PDI is not usually listed, or I have never seen one, on most US sold new cars, I think. I might be mistaking, I will check my sales slip when I get home.

Well, I'm not sure where I got that. I've never bought a new car. And I never really paid that much attention to the sticker info the dealer puts on the window. But, I do want to go over to my local dealer and see about a copy of the Monroney sticker for my Prime since the original owner threw it away with the manuals and the second fob. I can look there. But whatever it's called, they do charge for installing the aforementioned plugs, setting tire pressure, etc.

You should be able to check without raising the car, well as long as you don't mind flopping down beside the car. Maybe lay out a door mat or something first, if you're parked outside, lol. The plugs are inches inboard from the pinchweld, just ahead of the rear wheel wells, at the the low point of a built-up plate zone. Good place for jackstands btw, much better than the feathery pinch weld.

Solely based on several years of racing a front wheel drive car:

    ~38 PSI Front & ~41 PSI Rear.

I had thought that PDI was included in US MSRP.

Some other charges on Mendel's post also look like national or provincial items. Doc fee here in the US is actually a dealership charge, a.k.a 'additional dealer profit', capped by most particular states.

Yeah, I think so. I checked a couple of monroney window stickers from my previous purchases. None show PDI as separate item nor is it mentioned in any of other items listed. I also checked a few sales papers (purchase agreement and such) and did not find any mentioning of PDI in them.

I believe Toyota Corporate reimburses the Toyota Dealership for performing a PDI.
90 minutes (give or take). If a dealership does not perform it and still accepts the
reimbursement it's between the dealer and corporate. The customer is not involved
    monetarily.

Going through the documentation of my recent purchase of USED Nissan vehicle. I found a PDI check list all checked and signed off by a Nissan dealer mechanic found in a separate folder in the glove compartment. I don't think I have ever seen document like this in previous purchases of Toyota and Honda vehicles, but they may exist for Toyota as well. My PRIME certainly did not come with one.
