Strange noise coming from under my dash. It happens when I’m just sitting there or when I’m driving. This car is usually pretty quiet but this noise comes and goes a couple times a week.

    any ideas?

    A ghost.

It's a broken/stuck servo motor for the climate control

Thanks for sharing that thread! So I just need to clean that gizmo and if it gives me more problems replace it? Seems pretty easy.

Depending on which one it is. There are three. I think Gen 2 still has two of them on the easy-to-reach side, with the third one (for fresh/recirculated air intake) on the other side and kind of buried.

Even on the 'easy' side, Gen 2 has another ECU mounted down there that my Gen 1 didn't have, in the way for access to one of the screws. yitznewton found an answer to that.

By “other side“ I’m guessing you mean the passenger side? I think I’ll probably end up making a video with my camera and pointing out that different things under there and let my camera find the source of the noise. This project is pretty low priority right now though because I’m also dealing with a hybrid battery problem at the moment, but it’s going pretty well so far.

Right, the servo motor for fresh/recirc intake is sandwiched between the passenger side of the main heater case and the driver side of the heater blower case. Dash might come out to get to that one.
