Just to activate. I got close to the wall in the garage and it activated at the exact same spot it always does. Then I pulled put of the garage on an angle getting close to the garage wall and that tone activated. Do you think I may need further calibration??

OBDII scanner and memory saver have nothing to do with each other except that you plug them into the same port. Two totally different devices. See @Mendel Leisk's link in post #77. That one looks just like my memory saver. They are readily available in auto parts stores.

This question is better asked on a medical forum, not an automotive one.

Has anyone tried the H4 battery from Pep Boys has on sale for $100 + taxes? The specs are the same as my battery in a 2017.

This is an older thread, but I have in my 2017. Plus I didn’t do any of the rituals stated in the OP. On the first start, all my sensors stopped working, which I was happy with, but everything came back after restarting 30 minutes later.

I found my 12v battery was discharged because of the boot light being left on. Completely flat after little driving during covid, I couldn't open the door with the remote. I've charged countless batteries before so I disconnected the battery for charging to avoid any possibility of damage to electronics. Then reconnected battery, Car started fine and drives OK except none of the heating system controls are functional! A unit on top of the engine is humming all the time. I also have a message: IPA System Check Visit your dealer.
Trouble is - the dealer is closed for covid - I've left a message and hope they will get back to me soon.

Any advice on what I can do to fix this myself? I've read all the stuff about fuel caps and driving in a straight line but nothing corresponds to my problem. It seems that the system might need a reset. Just hoping it's nothing expensive. I can't believe that changing a 12v battery can be so complicated!

A weak 12 volt battery can confuse computers and give strange codes. Replace the 12 volt battery first before anything else. They generally do not work well after being run down.

I have a 2018 Prius (standard) that has been giving me fits with the battery. About two weeks ago I drove to a store and then cut the car off. I parked for 20 minutes with the car in aux to listen to music. Pushed the start button and the brake pedal goes all wacky. 12v warning on the dashboard, etc. A buddy jumped me off and it ran fine for a week. One week later it did the same thing. Here I am three weeks into this and after my third jumpstart I need to get this figured out. Advanced Auto tested the battery and said it's fine. Anyone else have experience with a Prius randomly not starting due to low 12v battery? I bought the car used 1 1/2 years ago and it's the original battery. Suggestions?

Always put the car in ready when using electronics so the 12v gets charged. I'd ask another parts store to test it

    1. Replace the auxiliary (12-volt) battery. See this posting for specifications; aftermarket ones are now readily available at reasonable prices. In principle, you could do the procedure in the Repair Manual (more info) under Power Source/Network: 2ZR-FXE (Battery/Charging): Charging System: On-Vehicle Inspection to rule out other possible causes, but you’ll need a clamp-on ammeter that can measure DC.

    2. As Toyota recommends (Owner’s Manual (PDF), page 233), “Do not leave the vehicle with the power switch in ACCESSORY or ON mode for long periods of time when the hybrid system is not operating.”

As @Elt31987 kindly suggests, if you want to use the radio or other electrical equipment while parked, just leave the car in READY, so 12-volt power will come from the HV battery (via the DC-DC converter), and the engine will run as needed to keep the HV battery charged.

Also, if you use the car infrequently, and/or have a lot of short trips, look into smart chargers. And maybe an electronic load tester.

Similar thing happened to me over the weekend. I left the radio on with the can on accessories while my girlfriend ran Into the store and got the low 12v message and a crazy light show on my dash before needing a jump start. I was listening to the radio for less than 10 min before that happened. A few days later, and I haven’t gotten the low battery message anymore. Could it be the battery really needs to get replaced or the battery got sufficiently charged now and I just need to drive the car a little more often since I haven’t been driving as much since I work from home now?

The advice here is once the battery gets low enough to need jumping it needs to be replaced before it leaves you stranded somewhere.
