That's closer to when $work would usually dole them out in-house. But I was at an outside clinic to get the other shot, and she said "I'm supposed to ask everybody if they want the flu shot too", and I said "hmm, well, I'm already here, no extra cost, why not?". So there it is.

on the spot decisions can be difficult sometimes.

last year they said they were giving me the senior flu shot unexpectedly. i should have left and called my doc.
    thankfully, no ill effects.

unfortunately, that describes much of the population these days. heck, preventable illness due to healthy lifestyles would transform healthcare.

but there go muh freedoms :(

We're both going on 60 but never heard of a "senior flu shot" We do get our flu shot every year and, earlier this year. got both Pfizer vaccines for the China flu....wasn't any worst than the yearly flu shot. We also got both our Foster's Vaccines (adult shingles) last year and those were no joke but definitely worth not getting shingles.
We're still unsure about these "covid 19 boosters"...something not smelling right.

i didn't know anything about the senior flu shot unti i turned 65, then they came at me with a senior needle

i'm watching the booster shot as well. a lot of cotroversy, some politics, some science.

in the end, the people who are reviewing the data are trying to figure out if hospitalizations and deaths of breakthrough cases are increasing over time, and if so, what a good time would be to begin the boosters and keep hospital surges down.

i can live with that, as long as they break down some age groups in the data. they've already authorized them for the immunocomromised, that makes sense.

We first heard about senior flu shot last fall, and were told we had to wait for it, even though they had reg flu shot ready and waiting.

So we waited, and waited. Then last time I asked they said the senior shot had fallen through, and we should just get the reg shot. But they were out, and…

Anyway, that was the first year in a long stretch we didn’t get our shots.

I heard about the senior flu shots some years back, but didn't pay much attention because I wasn't anywhere near seniorhood. But now that I'm getting close to qualifying ...

    As for ...
Since the early months of this pandemic, I've been bracing for the possibility that any immunity to this coronavirus might be short lived. Just as it is with the several mild coronaviruses that cause common colds. If this virus behaves the same, then frequent booster vaccinations could be necessary.

Here are some of last year's posts where I mention or allude to this possibility:

Called my pharmacy about getting the booster, age 71. Sad to say, I'm not in the early group. I'll have to wait to December.

Nobody is approved for "boosters" just yet. I believe it is just the immunocompromised approved for getting 3rd shots now, but for them it isn't considered a booster. Being a senior isn't sufficient to count as immunocompromised. My friend just barely older than you, who recently got her 3rd shot, qualified due to chemotherapy, not age.

Boosters for non-compromised folks are not actually settled yet. They will likely start 8 months after your 2nd Pfizer shot, or September 20th, whichever comes later. If you had Moderna, sit tight for more details, but it will probably also be put on the same 8 month schedule.

The JnJ vaccinations started two and a half months later than Pfizer and Moderna. It is simply too early to have the JnJ data, and none of them (outside the original trials for EUA) are coming up on 8 months soon anyway.

That was pretty much the details shared by the pharmacist. But I figured no harm asking.

boosters maybe a fait accompli, like the fda approval of the pfizer vaccine. but i would hope they follow the science and data, not the politics.

as the cdc head dr. wallenski said, 'there is tremendous pressure'

You gotta be OFF THE HOOK to get called out BY fake news.... :ROFLMAO:

So......first the Great Sanhedrin punished people for the temerity of mentioning Hydroxychloroquine in public....now it's Ivermectin....

    What's NEXT?
    Monoclonal antibodies??

There's a letter making the rounds on social media that's from a FOIA request for information on the CDC and masks. In it, it states, "CDC is not aware of any randomized control trials that shows that masks or double masks or cloth face coverings are effective against COVID-19."

Interesting and confirmed what I heard a medical PhD say last year, "Expecting a cloth mask to stop the COVID-19 virus is like expecting a chained-link fence to stop a mosquito."

These politicians needs to stop with their power trips!!

I know the vaccination status because my aunt told me. She and virtually all of her circle of friends were anti-vax and believed that Covid was a hoax. Until people started dying.

Comorbidities? Don't know, but if you take a look at the normal health of people in their 50s and 60s you'd see that many have some problem from genetics, drinking, smoking or eating. That's why "How ya doing" is not always a good way to greet a senior citizen... unless you really want to hear about the latest malady. :)

More interesting to me is why Privilege is inquiring? Is he planning to accept the medical procedure now that he heard that real people are really dying? Or is he hunting for an excuse to say that it wasn't covid, but some other thing that killed them? Just wondering.

Handy that somebody else took the time to follow that rabbit hole.
