I don't know and haven't had the battery opened up to look. It would be nice if they had used whatever was current when the replacement battery was built. Mine was late 2013, so probably Gen 3. But even using Gen 1 modules would extend the lifespan of an 02. You still have to stay on top of other wear items like the inverter coolant pump, but the Gen 1 cars are very sturdy--especially ones in the desert South West where corrosion is practically unknown.

    Maybe Ericbecky or Chap know.

    ##### In other developments, I took the 03 out yesterday and it threw the code again--Battery Voltages vary too widely. Techstream says that they are all above 18v, so that's good. But differences are large enough to set a code. After I calmed down and stopped looking at modules on Ebay and Amazon, I thought it out and decided to put it through three more Prolong cycles--taking a day for each cycle. I'll report the outcomes on Tuesday.

Here is a quote I found my searching.
The date coding goes by the 4th digit of the battery serial number beginning with the letter "A" which signifies the year 1999.
It appears most assembly line cars came with packs built close to the year the car was produced. The exception has been the 2001 year model, which has date codes reaching back to 1999.
So far, we have not seen any date codes newer than 2008, even though we have had 2 packs that we have examined that were bought in 2010.

So "B" would be 2000 and so on?

Date of manufacture tells me nothing about what Generation spec. the modules were built to.

Ray! Pls are the chargers/dischargers you guys sell, only applicable to Prius? Trying to inquire if there are available, the ones that can be used for Highlanders, and Camry hybrids.

Ray does not sell them except as an enthusiastic customer as far as I know.
Head over to hybridautomotive.com to see the lineup. I know they are not restricted to Toyotas and now have a professional line too.

I’m just a guy who has used the equipment successfully and helps others :).

    So non-compensated testimonials ;).

I do need to circle back to @jeff652 at some point though when he’s not traveling as much(y).

…it's always good to know friends who will help you out, especially when you have a Prius and particularly if you use Hybrid Automotive's Prolong Grid System! ;)

    Agreed;).

Jeff is a good guy. While I no longer have a Prius his equipment could be used for, staying in touch is something I find to be a good thing:).

But he beats the streets a lot, so those opportunities for both of us are limited:cool:.

    One of these days though(y).

Wot! No Prius! (loud jarring chord!) Please Miss, please Miss! @Raytheeagle has snuck in here, and he's just admitted to us that he is in fact Prius-less! (aside) So Ray, tell us all what happened? ;)

    Oh I’m not Prius-less;).

I was Prime for an upgrade:

    The Garage just got Crowded

So I’m onto Lithium technology. Something Jeff doesn’t have any technology for;).

But that doesn’t mean I’m not supportive :).

I have experience with his product, and that won’t change(y).

Yeah, he's stuck with one of those lame Primes that can't use the Prolong system.:LOL::LOL:

I, on the other hand, have five more fingers. Errr, I mean I have a Prime AND a Gen 2 that I'll probably use the Prolong on later in the fall if it ever cools down outside. :)

I’m not sure the Lithium technology has the same concerns;).

Hence the reason for the discussion:).

He’s a smart guy, if there’s something he can do, he’ll figure out a way(y).
